Famous singers, presenters, politicians and football players are among the most followed profiles on social media in 2019. The Global Media report by Data Reportal, We are Social and Hootsuite elects former US President Barack Obama as the most followed account on Twitter, Cristiano Ronaldo as the famous person with the most followers on Instagram and as the most liked personal profile on Facebook last year. The list also brings more politicians, the Kardashians, and celebrities from the music scene, such as Justin Bieber and Katy Perry.

Among Brazilians, only Neymar is part of the 20 accounts of the network with the most followers in the world this year. The survey also points to Brazil as the third country that spends the most time of the day using social networks, while the world average of two hours and 24 minutes a day, the Brazilian average of three hours and 45 minutes.

The most followed accounts on Instagram are singers, but the institutional account of the application itself is the most followed profile of the entire social network. Ariana Grande, Selena Gomez, Beyonc and Taylor Swift have, if combined, almost 600 billion followers. The Kardashians are very successful on the social network of photos: the sisters Kylie Jenner, Kim and Khle occupy, respectively, the sixth, seventh and seventh place in the ranking.

The vast majority of the most followed profiles on Twitter are singers.
