No. The social network was discontinued in 2014 and as long as it is not possible to recover profile data, the deadline for backing up photos, testimonials, scraps and other information ended in 2016. When opening Orkut.br, the user informed that it is not an official Google platform. Sought by TechTudo, the company said it would not comment on the case. Likewise, we also tried to contact Orkut.br, but we were unable to get back.

"Orkut.br has no link with Google and is not the same site as Orkut. If your intention is to access the old social network affiliated with Google, we apologize, but it will not be possible, unfortunately Orkut ended its activities in 2014 ", explains the note displayed on the Orkut.br homepage.

Orkut.br was developed by a fan in honor of the extinct social network. The site aims to recreate the late Orkut from scratch, using the same tools and design as the original platform.

To register on Orkut.br, I need to provide data such as name and surname, date of birth, e-mail, sex and country where you live. After completing the registration, the user can add additional information and start adding friends.

3. Are there any risks when using the website?

Orkut.br is not an official Google service, so there is no way to guarantee user privacy. Although reliving the experience of the 2000s is a tempting proposition, it is important to think twice before exposing your personal data in the name of homesickness.

According to Orkut.br, the site has a security system that includes SSL certificate, protection against malware infections and distributed denial of service (DDoS) attack. However, during tests done by the TechTudo, the platform proved to be quite unstable and showed constant errors. It is not known to what extent this instability can compromise data security.

Another aspect that deserves attention is the terms of use of Orkut.br. The website points out that, "when you publish content or information, you are allowing everyone, including people outside Orkut.br, to access and use that information and associate it with you (that is, your name and profile photo)". It is important to keep this in mind before adding photos and other personal information to the platform.

Also noteworthy is the possibility of connecting the profile to Facebook. When the user authorizes this communication, Orkut.br is granted a series of permissions to verify personal information contained in the Zuckerberg network. Therefore, the recommendation is that you do not connect the platforms. If you have already made the integration, go to the Facebook settings and, in the "Applications and Sites" option, revoke Orkut.br access.

4. Are the features the same as the old Orkut?

Yes. Orkut.br follows the look of the late social network and recovers resources that users have missed. It is possible to send testimonials to friends, leave scraps in the profile and classify someone with the famous trade of attributes: "reliable", "cool" and "sexy".

The nostalgic site also revives some of the most popular Orkut communities. Classics like "I hate to wake up early", "God told me: come down and rock" and "I love my mom" were recreated on the new platform. Orkut.br also recovered the section "Luck of the day", which included "forecasts" and daily motivational phrases.

Anyone who had the expectation of playing Colheita Feliz again or creating a new avatar on BuddyPoke will continue to miss it. The social network did not bring games back.

Reliving the nostalgia of the 2000s, without a doubt, is an attractive proposal, but browsing Orkut.br is far from being a pleasant experience. The site is still under development and displays error messages at all times. To perform simple actions, such as joining a community, you need to repeat the command several times until you succeed.
