MacBooks Air would be severely impacting “Ultrabooks” production projects between Intel partners

Although Intel is heavily invested in so-called "Ultrabooks", its main partners are simply not able to carry out projects due to the huge success of the MacBook Air.

According to DigiTimes, manufacturers like Acer, Toshiba, ASUS, and Lenovo have decided to limit their initial orders for Ultrabooks to just ~ 50,000 units, to "feel the market's reception" in front of Apple's super-portable laptop.

Meanwhile, Intel continues to strive to make things work and hold a conference this month to discuss ways to overcome technological difficulties in developing these Ultrabooks. These machines are expected to cost less than $ 1,000, but even that is not confirmed at this time.
