A new challenge has taken over Instagram, Twitter and other social networks this past weekend: the finger in the eye challenge. The game consists of doing a trick with your fingers over your face and taking pictures to show your friends. The posts are published with the hashtags #delechallenge, #deleallichallenge, #delealli and #dele.
The theme came up when British player Dele Alli, who played in the World Cup for England, celebrated a goal by making the gesture. Since then, the Internet has been trying to imitate the athlete, making the subject soar among the most commented according to Google Trends.

All the players and even the coach of Tottenham, the team where Dele Alli plays, entered the challenge. Gradually, other European clubs started to participate, with dressing videos circulating on the networks: Manchester United and PSG, Neymar team, were some of them. Soon video tutorials appeared teaching how to make the gesture, which requires a specific and curious positioning of the fingers before placing the hand over the face.

The challenge is similar to other viruses that spread quickly through social networks. In 2015, the game revolved around the color of a dress, which looked blue and black or white and gold, depending on who viewed the image. In 2017, something similar involved the color of a sneaker, which could be seen as green or pink.
