Awaited since the end of 2015, the newest Apple store in Chicago opened yesterday with the presence of several executives even because a flagship beautiful, of those that need to be visited (no wonder that is even highlighted now on Apple.com).
Our reader Adriano de Almeida he was there at the opening, which took place at 5 pm around the local time, and sent photos and information about the event. , according to Apple itself, ?its newest and most ambitious store?, creating a connection between North Michigan Avenue, Pioneer Court and the Chicago River.
The store is called Apple Michigan Avenue and replaces the old North Michigan Avenue, originally opened in 2003 as the first flagship company and continued to operate normally until the day before yesterday:
A quick aerial view video that Apple posted on its website confirms that it has abandoned that idea of ??putting a white apple on the ceiling of the store, giving the feeling of being a giant MacBook Air cover.
As a matter of fact, speaking of a ceiling, it measures 34x30m and is all made of carbon fiber (with internal wood covering), such as the one at the Steve Jobs Theater in Apple Park. Following the maxim of Jony Ive, Apple said it was built to be ?as thin as possible?, with the entire structure of the store supported by just four internal pillars.
The facade is only glass, 10m high.
From 2003 to now, the Apple store on North Michigan Avenue has received more than 23 million visitors. With the opening of the new location, the staff has gone from 58 people in the original to 250 now.
To celebrate the grand opening, Apple is holding special events entitled The Chicago Series a series of five programs that complement the programming Today at Apple standard with a focus on the intersection of technology and liberal arts.
There is even a small stage for musical shows:
