It is a consensus that the app market is no longer the same as a few years ago. But that doesn?t mean he?s stagnant or doesn?t surprise us with good numbers. Christmas 2017, for example, is proof of that.

That $ 196 million does not take into account Android revenue in China. Even so, the value represents a year-on-year growth of around 5.2% for gaming expenses and approximately 66% for non-gaming applications. As we can see in the graph below, spending on games grew by US $ 8 million, from US $ 150 million (in 2016) to US $ 158 million (this year); spending on apps rose a good $ 14 million, from $ 24 million to $ 38 million.
Those who have a lot to celebrate, however, are the apps and services that are part of the entertainment category. These had a year-on-year growth of 98% over the previous year, totaling an expenditure of US $ 9.5 million compared to the US $ 4.8 million in 2016 largely driven by services such as Netflix and HBO NOW / GO.
