Portuguesa Unbabel is one of the most innovative companies in the world in the Fast Company ranking

Unbabel was elected this Tuesday as one of the most innovative companies in the world in 2020. In the annual list prepared by Fast Company Worlds Most Innovative Companies for 2020, the Portuguese startup that combines artificial intelligence (AI) with human translation and translation automatica ranks third in the "Enterprise" category.

In a statement, the CEO of Unbabel, Vasco Pedro, says that last year was transformative for the business, with "great advances in automatic translation, product adoption and adoption by large customers. This election comes after Unbabel successfully closed a $ 60 million Srie C funding round in September 2019, led by Point72 Ventures, along with e.ventures, Greycroft and Indico Capital Partners. Thus, the total investment raised to 91 million dollars.

Also last year, the company was elected for the second consecutive time the largest Portuguese scaleup in the report on the Portuguese entrepreneurship ecosystem, Scale Up Portugal 2019. Odocument reveals that the 25 largest Portuguese scaleups raised this year a total of 178 million euros in financing rounds, a value that represents a growth of 54% compared to the value raised by the top 25 in 2018.
