Last month, WhatsApp announced that it intends to display advertisements between the Status publications starting in 2019. The application also disclosed a greater integration between its Business version and Facebook, creating a button that interconnects the two social networks and facilitates communication between companies and customers. In addition, the unlimited backup on Google Drive was a novelty for messenger users on Android phones.
In August, several failures and scam attempts were noted by users of the messaging application. Some of them were resolved and clarified in a short time. Check below the main highlights of WhatsApp during the period.

Free of advertisements since its launch in 2009, WhatsApp intends to show advertisements among Status posts, in a format very similar to the one already existing on Instagram Stories. Advertisements should be displayed from 2019, but there is no specific date for the start of the activity.
WhatsApp Status has an audience of around 450 million daily users, more than Instagram.
Serious flaws and scam attempts were found on WhatsApp by digital security companies and users in August. One of them allowed to change messages sent in group chats through the reply tool. A malicious user could use the function to tamper with texts and quote them in messages for all members to view. Another error would allow messages to be sent to only one participant in a group, without the others receiving them.

Users also complained about a bug that prevented the download of media files, such as photos and audio, in the chat on Android and iPhone (iOS). The app displayed error messages like File format is not supported and the image could not be downloaded. Whatsapp did not recognize the problem, which has now been normalized.
A common scam involving false promotions in the messenger was also noticed in August. This time the messages offered a fake discount coupon on the iFood delivery service, promising R $ 100 in in-app purchases, along with a malicious link. IFood said the promotion was fake and warned of a possible virus infection.

WhatsApp announced that the application data backup will become unlimited in Google Drive, regardless of the size of the set of photos, videos and documents included. The measure takes effect from November 12 for Android users. The new backup format will not be available for iPhone users (iOS), who remain with storage via iCloud.

A WhatsApp Business tool launched in August will allow companies to add messenger action buttons to their websites or advertisements within Facebook, allowing users to start a chat immediately. The novelty also allows commercial profiles to send consumers automatic information via WhatsApp, such as boarding passes, purchase confirmations, event reminders and merchandise shipping confirmations. The new features are aimed at medium and large companies and some are already being tested, such as Uber and Wish.

Three valuable tips, published by TechTudo in August, they can help to reduce the consumption of the mobile data package when using WhatsApp. Actions such as disabling the automatic download of photos and videos and reducing the quality of calls can guarantee a decrease in mobile internet consumption. Deactivating the backup of conversations over 3G or 4G, configuring the storage to be carried out only through WiFi, will also save you the franchise.

By means of a request sent by email, it is possible to temporarily disable the WhatsApp account, in case of loss or theft of the device, so that other people do not have access to your data and conversations. After ordering, the profile will be inactive for up to 30 days and can be reactivated at any time. If this is not done within this period, your data will be permanently deleted and a new account needs to be created.
