This Thursday (13th), Google Arts & Culture, which holds collections from cultural institutions from around the world, has a 360 virtual tour through rooms of the National Historical Museum and an exhibition of historical pieces from the institution. With the tour, it is possible to remember the palace before the September fire, when 92% of the collection was damaged by fire.

The reconstruction was done with images captured in 2017, in a Google project in a partnership with the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro (UFRJ) and the Ministry of Education (MEC). The online platform contains nine exhibitions from the museum and 360 tour to some rooms in the palace including the one that housed the skull of Luzia, the oldest woman in the Americas, and the Bendeg meteorite. Step 1. Access the Google Arts & Culture page and press the magnifying glass icon at the top right of the screen;

Step 2. In the search field, type Museu Nacional, without quotes. Among the search results, check the option Inside the National Museum;

Step 3. Scroll the screen until Exposio Online Go back in time and explore. Click on the image;

Step 4. You will be directed to the exhibition. Touch the right side arrow to start;

Step 5. On the next screen, start the exposure itself. As soon as you enter the page, a narration will begin, which in the first image deals with the fire that affected the palace in September. it is possible to silence the content by clicking on the speaker icon or pausing it on the pause symbol;

Step 6. To change the museum environment, it is necessary to press, on each screen, the side arrow;

Step 6. In the exhibition, the user can explore both the gardens and the museum rooms, in the same way as done on Google Maps. Therefore, to rotate within the same environment, just click with the mouse at one point and, at the same time, drag the cursor in the opposite direction, as if you were dragging the screen;

Step 7. To walk through the corridors, just point the mouse pointer at a fixed point and, when you see the arrow symbol on the screen, click on it;

Step 8. To approach any part, point the mouse pointer next to it and then click on the arrow symbol that appears.
