For those who were hoping to see the Galaxy S8 / S8 + and Note 8 running Android 10, we have one bad news: in a statement to the portal SamMobile, a representative of the South Korean said that the 2017 models will not really receive this version.
This is not surprising, after all, the Galaxy S8 has been in stores for three years, making Samsung not obliged to release a new version of Android or even security packages, given that Google requires the minimum of two major updates and three years of security updates, and this last deadline is running out.
Samsung needed to clarify the situation because, on more than one occasion, company customer support officials said that these devices would receive Android 10, even though they never appeared in the "Samsung Members" app update schedule.
To confirm the statement again, the SamMobile he also asked the company directly during the Unpacked 2020 event, which featured the Galaxy S20 line and the Galaxy Z Flip. Samsung was once again categorical when it said that Android 10 for the Galaxy S8 / S8 + and Note 8 is not in its plans.
Therefore, it is quite likely that the Galaxy S8 will receive its last security package between February and March, while on the Galaxy Note 8, the update cycle should end in August.
Although these models have been excluded from Android 10, Samsung remains committed to bringing Google's new mobile OS to newer smartphones, such as the Galaxy A70, A30 and A50s, for example.
