Initially scheduled for May 12, Google took everyone "by surprise" and launched Android 11 Developer Preview on February 19.
Google officially launched (and well ahead of schedule) the Android 11 Developer Preview this February 19th, and is already available for download on your Pixel 2, Pixel 3, Pixel 3a or Pixel 4.
O Android 11 Developer Preview the version that includes what developers need to test their applications. As it is a first version, it should still have many bugs, which should be fixed in the coming weeks.
On the news, Android Central made a list of ten things we can expect for the release of the final version and which are already being tested in the new operating system.
The new application for chats, called in English from "Chat Bubbles", allows you to open a small window to send and receive messages without having to open the entire application.
In order to have access to all functions and settings it will still be necessary to open the app, but for those who want to send messages quickly, Bubbles ends up being practical to the user.
Messages from multiple applications
Still on messages, the Android 11 brings a new session that unifies all messaging applications.
This means that messages coming from different applications, such as Telegram, Whatsapp and others, are shown in a single window, making it even easier to exchange messages.
Send images by notifications
Another novelty is that people will be able to send images directly from the notifications, without the need to open the entire application to send this type of message.
Within this Android 11 Developer Preview, it only works with images copied within the Chrome app. However, the expectation that in the future any image can be shared.
Single and temporary permission
One of the most important points of Android 10 was the new permission system, which is something that Google is improving again in Android 11.
This time, it will be possible to give certain applications a temporary permission, which guarantees access to their location, microphone and camera. This means that when you leave the application, the permissions are revoked, guaranteeing greater control to the user regarding the information acquired by the app.
Smartphone goes mute when using the camera
O Android 11 mutes alarm sounds, notifications and tones when the camera application is open, just vibrating to indicate that someone is calling.
This is ideal for not disturbing users when they are recording videos or taking photos.
With digital wallets, in which credit cards, concert tickets and boarding passes are stored on your phone, you still need the wallet to store documents. How Android 11It will also be possible to have the digital driver's license stored in the system (remembering that in Brazil there is already a digital driver's license in the form of an application).
The operating system now supports the storage of sensitive documents, including the ISO 18013-5 standard for digital driver's licenses. However, the US government still needs to regulate the digital document, which means that you still need the physical document until this occurs.
Scoped Storage made easy for developers
Last year, the Android 10 introduced the world to the concept of "Scoped Storage", preventing malicious applications from accessing private information. Despite being well received by users, developers needed to have a lot of work to make their applications work normally.
How Android 11, the idea to facilitate the implementation of the ?Scoped Storage?. The official information says that the goal is to work to continue providing better protection to the application and user data, and that developers will be able to transition their applications more easily.
Biometrics with more security levels
O Android 11 take biometrics to the ?next level? and support three types of authenticators: strong, weak and device credentials.
This means that biometric security will help give your smartphone even more privacy. Google has also improved the API responsible for biometrics to improve integration with applications.
5G better on Android 11
Some smartphones with Android 10 j can connect with 5G technology, but with the Android 11 the changes will make the experience better.
Most notable is the API "Dynamic Meterdness", which works if you have unlimited connection to the 5G, making it possible to access videos and graphics in high resolution to take full advantage of this speed.
O Android 11 also introduces the API ?Bandwidth Estimator?, a feature that makes it easier to view the bandwidth for the 5G connection.
Better compatibility with pinhole and waterfall displays
With the advancement of the screens to the edges of the phones, the manufacturers were integrating the cameras into the screens, creating the so-called notches. This screen layout started to be supported from Android 9.
With the arrival of Android 11, Google shows its commitment to these screens, adding support for type displays pinhole (with a small circular camera opening) and waterfall (with a banner at the top of the screen, similar to the iPhone).
These layouts are being added to the existing API, but a new API has been added that allows the use of the entire screen, including the sides of the cameras.
