Evernote 5 beta for OS X is now available; iOS app will also be redesigned

Promised for this week, the beta version of Evernote 5 for Mac is now available.

Bringing many visual novelties, the company reinforces the message that it is beta software. This means that if you download and use the fifth version of Evernote today, you are subject to the most varied problems, even file loss, in the worst case.

Evernote preferences

To install, the user needs to open Preferences (Preferences) of Evernote and select the tab Software Update. There, in the end, there is an option to upgrade to beta versions when they are available. this is exactly what you need to do: check this box. Then just click Check For Updates Now and install the update.

If you bought Evernote on the Mac App Store, you'll notice that this box doesn't exist. That's because the Apple store doesn't allow the distribution of beta software, so it doesn't make sense to have the feature.

The company said it plans to release a beta version to users of the Mac App Store before the release of the final version likely going through version 3.4, 4.0 or something like that. Another warning from them: as many users are testing the beta version, the service is a bit overwhelmed.

On a related note, just as it did with the OS X version, Evernote for iOS will also be completely redesigned.

New features include views, notes, notebooks, tags, locations, quick note buttons and, on the iPad, addition of a list of recent notes. If you want to know more about what's new in the iOS version, check out this page.
