Tim Cook and the entire team of Apple executives have made it very clear that they bet a lot of chips on augmented reality, especially after they launched the ARKit.

One of the improvements to come in version 1.5 of ARKit is the mapping of complete surfaces and areas, which will enable a much more comprehensive and detailed work to be used by the developers. See examples below:

Apple at Game Developers Conference
