In discussion forums like Reddit, the MacRumors and even Apple's, users are complaining about the connectivity of the XS / XS Max iPhones when comparing them to the older models when, in theory, the new devices should bathe the older ones. In summary, when comparing the quality of the reception of the signal from the operator of the new devices with the 8 or X, users are noticing that fewer bars appear (especially in areas with the weakest signal). In one case, a user stated that in his home he always had two LTE signal bars with the iPhone 8 Plus and, now, with the XS Max, the device is often looking for a signal without a connection.
Such a user even exchanged the device with his operator (Verizon), but the new unit presents the same problem. And, doing a search in the forum of MacRumors, the majority of users who are complaining are Verizon customers. Still, there are also reports of customers from other operators.
In addition to the 4G / LTE connectivity issues, some users are also complaining about Wi-Fi connectivity, stating that the connection speed on the XS / XS Max iPhones is slower compared to other iPhone models. Apparently, according to reports, it appears that the new smartphones are giving preference to networks running on the 2.4GHz frequency instead of those running on 5GHz (this is when connecting to routers that use the same SSID for both frequencies).
Himself MacRumors did a test and proved that, while the iPhone X was connected to the Wi-Fi network at 5GHz, the iPhone XS was at 2.4GHz. The good news is that, analyzing the reports, both problems have everything to be corrected by Apple with a simple software update.
