In HiFi plans, the main difference lies in the quality of the Lossless audio, without compression or loss of quality. The resource internally called TIDAL Masters. When choosing the "Standard" option of HiFi, users pay R $ 33.80 to access the entire catalog. In the "Family" plan, up to five accounts can enjoy the same benefits by paying R $ 50.70. In the option "Student", the value drops to R $ 16.90.

Currently, the TIDAL catalog reaches more than 60 million songs by artists from all over the world. Even though it was launched years after Spotify, the platform has a catalog larger than its main competitor, which has about 50 million songs. J Deezer offers more than 56 million tracks. Apple Music, for its part, also offers more than 60 million songs in its catalog. Thus, TIDAL stands out in relation to competitors in the streaming market.

The video section is another point that differentiates TIDAL from its competitors. In addition to clips from different artists, the service offers original content that works as "mini documentaries" about music. It is even possible to find several Brazilian artists who were interviewed by the platform giving testimonies about their careers and experiences in artistic life. The videos can be played in the PC version and in the smartphone apps.

It is possible to adjust the reproduction quality for different types of devices and Internet speeds. The resolution ranges from 180p to Full HD (1080p) and playback can be done in full screen or in window mode with the row of songs on the right of the screen.

Interface, resources and platforms available

The interface of the rival service is similar to Spotify: black background, options on the left side of the screen and navigation centered by pages of artists, discs and playlists. The player controls are on the bottom bar with playback commands, time indicator, volume bar, choice of speakers and playback queue.

On cell phones, however, the look changes a lot. The homepage shows a banner with new songs and artists featured on the platform. At the bottom, you can find suggested playlists and podcasts. There is even an exclusive tab for viewing video clips and special programs created by the service.

Users have features similar to those found in other streaming services. You can create playlists, add music to play next, view credits by composers and share on social media. As in Spotify, TIDAL creates a playlist with the user's tastes that uses the internal algorithm to create the song list.

The service is available for Windows and macOS. In addition, users can download the application for iPhone and Android.

TIDAL's differential is the audio quality offered through the HiFi subscription. The file reproduced in FLAC format of 16 bits and 44 kHz, which represents similar quality of CDs. According to the company, the audio does not have any type of compression or loss of sound quality. The Premium Plan reproduces 320 Kbps AAC audio. The quality of the HiFi mode is ideal for users looking for higher quality, but it is worth mentioning that it depends on a fast Internet for reproduction without crashes.

TIDAL has a larger catalog than Spotify and Deezer, but it compares with the amount of Apple Music files, being one of the cheapest alternatives. In addition, the service does not have a free plan with advertisements – as is the case with Spotify. In the following comparison, it is possible to verify the differences in values ??between the aforementioned services. TIDAL allows free trial for up to 30 days.
