According to the All Things blog of the Wall Street Journal, the USPTO patent office issued a final rejection after a review of Oracle's No. 6,192,476 patent, in which it accused Google of infringement.
The rejection, however, does not mean that Oracle's lawsuit against Google has ended. The company will now have six months to respond with an appeal, or even to sue the patent office itself.
In a lawsuit valued at $ 6 billion, Oracle accuses Google of irregular use of Java software in the Google Android operating system. The Mountain View giant, on the other hand, denies the charges.
Oracle took control of Java after it acquired Sun Microsystems last year.
