According to Android Pit, Apple has applied for a patent for a feature that is currently present in Android 4.0 (ICS) and the Galaxy Nexus device: face detection.
"The system apparently analyzes features on a face, including the user's mouth, the tip of the nose, the distance between eyes and facial features to determine whether a person or not the owner of the iOS device," published the blog.
A publication by Engadget, however, clarifies that Apple filed the patent application on June 29, 2010, only being revealed to the public today.
Google, on the other hand, obtained a patent for visual searches, including facial recognition, in February 2010.
