AppGallery: get to know and see how Huawei's app store works | Apps

AppGalery is the application store developed by Huawei for the brand's mobile phones. After the recent controversy with the President of the United States, Donald Trump, this was the option that the company found for users to gain access to different apps on their devices. The Huawei Developer Day Brasil took place for the first time in Brazil this Thursday (5th) to show features of the virtual store and encourage the creation of new Brazilian applications within the platform.

AppGalery was created in 2013 in China, but was only available worldwide in 2018. The application download platform fulfills the same role as the Google Play Store present in other Android phones. Now, after Donald Trump's ban that prevented the brand from negotiating with Google, the manufacturer is encouraging Brazilian developers to create apps for its own store.

According to Daniel Dias, Go-To-Marketing from Huawei in Brazil, the phones currently sold in the country still come with the Play Store, as the models were launched before the restrictions of the President of the United States. In this way, the user who buys the phones officially in Brazil is able to have normal access to all apps available for the Android system, such as WhatsApp, Instagram, Facebook, TikTok etc.

To avoid problems with the phones that will be launched in the future, Huawei has been investing in incentives for app developers to be interested in creating new apps within the Chinese platform. So, if the restriction with Google continues, the public that will buy a device in the coming years will have access to a variety of contents, in addition to another store option to download their programs. In models that are for sale, AppGalery already appears in the system's native programs folder. This way, users will not need to use APKs to download popular applications on their devices, for example.

The event also served to officially announce in Brazil the Huawei Assistant, virtual assistant of the brand that works in a similar way to the suggestions of Siri, of the iOS system, but produced exclusively for Huawei phones. Its function is to display, according to the use of applications, recommendations in the form of shortcuts to facilitate usability and bring more agility in everyday life. The novelty is already available on the brand's mobile phones and, according to the company, the next step is for the virtual assistant to be able to interact by voice with users on mobile phones, just as Google Assistant already does on smartphones.
