IOS 12, the latest version of the iPhone operating system, offers a number of functions that can make everyday life easier. It is possible, for example, to check the battery usage report to better understand how the device's energy is spent receiving discreet notifications, without sound or banner, to avoid embarrassing moments and still search for music on Apple Music with only parts of the song. Another interesting function is sending passwords to other iOS users via AirDrop, which makes sharing this information more secure.

1. Usage report widget
New in iOS 12, the activity control system helps to monitor smartphone usage time, with reports and alerts to better manage screen time. The function itself is quite useful, but with this shortcut it is possible to have quick access to the report and discover the activities in which you apply your time. To add the widget, slide the home screen to the right and click "Edit". In "Add Widgets", select the "Time of Use" option by clicking "+" and finally, "OK".

2. Search for lyrics on Apple Music
The feature facilitates the user's daily life by eliminating the complete typing of the name of the pool to find it on Apple Music. Now, just type a letter in the search system and the service returns with options for songs, albums, artists, playlists, people and video clips that match the search. The platform also manages to keep the user's attention, since it is no longer necessary to use other sites or applications just to discover the name of a track.

Until then exclusively on the iPhone X, XS and XS Max trio, iOS 12 extended the possibility of turning the QuickType keyboard into a trackpad for all devices. The function makes it easy to edit texts by placing the cursor in the right place to change a typing. This option can be enabled in a simple way, just press the space bar on the keyboard for a few seconds. The other keys will disappear, and from there, move your finger to place the cursor in the appropriate place.

Announced as a new feature in iOS 11.4.1, restricted USB has only been effective now, in the latest iOS update. In practice, the feature prevents access to the device via USB cables, unless the user unlocks the iPhone with the password at hourly intervals. The function prevents third parties from accessing your personal information. To use the tool, go to "Settings"> "Touch ID (or Face ID) & Code"> "Enter your Code"> "USB Accessories".

The management of notifications was very easy with iOS 12, especially for those who choose to receive alerts, but would like to have greater control over them. This is possible with the Silent Notification function, which displays warnings only in the Notification Center, with no sound or banner. To activate, go to "Notification Center"> "Manage"> "Receive Silently". The process to disable it, just follow the same path and click on "Receive Prominently".

6. Do Not Disturb with Time and Location
In addition to Silent Notification, it is possible to control alerts with the No Disturb feature, which can be programmed according to time and location, directly from the Control Center. In this way, it is possible to prevent being surprised by calls and notifications at a meeting or movie session, for example. The tool can be enabled by pressing the moon cone on the Control Center. Then, just choose between the options "For 1 Hour", "Until (next day shift)", "Until I leave this location" or at certain times.

7. Automatic iOS updates
The iOS automatic update feature allows users to always have the latest version of the operating system, without having to worry about manually approving the download with each release. By default, the function is disabled. To authorize, you need to go to "Settings"> "General"> "Software Update"> "Automatic Updates"> "Yes". That way, you receive all the news at first hand, as soon as you leave.

8. Shortcut to QR Code scanner
Since the previous version, iOS 11, users have a QR Code scanner in the camera application. The new operating system further simplifies access to the tool with the creation of a shortcut in the Control Center, which promises to speed up the identification of this type of code. To enable this option, follow the path "Settings"> "Control Center"> "Customize Controls"> "+ QR Code Reader".

9. Sending passwords via Airdrop
The same AirDrop used to share photos and videos with friends and family who also use iOS devices gains a new function: sending passwords for websites and applications. The feature makes it safer and faster to share access to services. The function can be activated in "Settings"> "General"> "AirDrop"> "Contacts only". Then go to "Passwords and Accounts"> "Sites and Apps Passwords". Click on the desired website or application, select the information to be sent, click on the AirDrop tab and choose the recipient's name.

10. Battery usage report
Making the battery last longer the challenge of many iPhone users, and understanding their own habits of use can be useful in this situation. IOS 12 brings a new functionality for battery monitoring, with graphs and information that detail the apps that consume more energy, in addition to presenting more accurate data about when and how it was used in the last 24 hours or 10 days.
