Although Apple did not announce any changes to the iPhone 4S plans, Google and Samsung decided to postpone this Friday the Nexus Prime launch event in respect of the death of Steve Jobs, the co-founder of the Cupertino giant who passed away last Wednesday.
"Samsung and Google decided to postpone the Samsung Mobile Unpacked event during CTIA in San Diego, previously scheduled for October 11," said Samsung in a statement. "Under the current circumstances, both parties have agreed that this is not the right time to announce a new product."
According to the Wall Street Journal's AllThings blog, the decision was made by the directors of both companies and cited Jobs' death as the reason. "There are no delays with regard to the product" said sources close to the site.
Update: Google and Samsung issued a new statement to clarify the matter: "We believe that this is not the right time to announce a new product while the world expresses its tribute to Steve Jobs," the companies said.
