Vodafone Portugal presented the results for the third quarter of the year, relative to October and December, referring to a sharp growth in the Services business area. The operator justifies the performance by stabilizing the mobile business, as well as the sustained growth in the fixed line, namely pay TV.
This growth translates into 247 million euros in revenue from Services, corresponding to an increase of 5.9% compared to the same period of 2018. The same quarter also represented a global growth, with an increase of 5.5% in revenues total, that is, 275 million euros.
The company reports that the total fixed customer base increased 9.7%, compared to the same period last year, totaling 772 thousand accounts, of which 664 thousand are TV customers, a sector that registered an increase of 11.4% compared to 2018. In total, Vodafone Portugal claims that its fiber has already reached 3.4 million households and companies. Not so expressive, the company also registered a growth of 1.2%, compared to the same period of 2018, in relation to mobile business customers, totaling 4.7 million users.
Maintaining this trend will require on our part a continuous evolution of our gigabit networks – fixed and mobile commitment that we have long assumed to enable a successful future for Portugal, so that, collectively, we can make the most of the opportunities that digital brings says Mrio Vaz.
The company continues to work on its fifth-generation mobile strategy. This week made a commitment to NOS to share the mobile infrastructure in anticipation of 5G. The objective is to share their assets at national level, in order to ensure greater efficiency and speed, in a sustainable way, the coverage of the Portuguese territory in the advent of the auction of frequencies for 5G.
