Google announced this morning (Monday), through a press release, which entered into a definitive agreement to acquire Motorola Mobility for 40 dollars a year, resulting in a total of 12.5 billion dollars.
Motorola Mobility is an Android partner company, and Google plans to operate it separately.
According to Larry Page, CEO and Co-Founder of Google, the acquisition of Motorola Mobility will ?overcharge? Android, greatly expanding the Mountain View company's patent portfolio.
The transaction is expected to be completed between the end of 2011 and the beginning of 2012.
