Peacock is a new streaming service from NBCUniversal, the company that owns Universal Studios and the American television network NBC. The novelty had its name revealed last week and will be, from July 2020, another option in the market dominated by Netflix, also competing with Amazon Prime Video, Apple TV +, HBO Go, Disney +, among others. Their strategy, however, differs from rivals in pricing: instead of offering a limited free period before the first monthly fee, there is a totally free modality. See, below, everything that is known so far about the movies and series website.

Peacock means peacock in English and alludes to NBC and Comcast, owner of NBCUniversal. The service had already been announced in 2019, but, until then, it had no name revealed. The launch date is set for July 15, in time for the broadcast of the 2020 Olympic Games, which begin the next 24 in Tokyo, Japan. NBC has the rights to display the event in the United States and will make streaming available to subscribers of the new service. For now, there is no estimate of Peacock's launch in Brazil.
The Peacock collection will be packed with content from NBC, such as the 30 Rock, Law & Order, Two and a Half Men series, and The Office, in addition to the talkshow The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon. The service should also be the first to offer Universal releases soon after they appear in theaters, such as the Oscar nominated 1917. The stadium also owns famous franchises like Despicable Me, Fast and Furious, Jurassic Park and Back to the Future.
On the other hand, the platform should have at least two notable absences that became famous thanks to NBC's TV grid. the case of the Friends series, whose rights currently belong to WarnerMedia, owner of HBO; and Seinfield, recently purchased by Netflix.

Price policy is Peacock's main difference from most competitors. The service will have a free modality with advertisements and provide access to 7,500 hours of programming, including classic series and films, reproductions of TV content that aired the day before, also including news and sports.
In the Premium version, streaming continues with ads, but releases twice as much content. The package includes original series, streaming of the entire TV grid, with early access to evening programs, as well as live broadcasting of football matches and sporting events such as the Tokyo Olympics.
NBC cable subscribers will have free premium access, while non-subscribers will have to pay a monthly fee of US $ 5 (about R $ 21) to remove ads, I need to pay an additional US $ 5.

NBCUniversal has yet to provide details on Peacock's compatibility with devices. The trend is that the service has its own applications for Android and iPhone (iOS) phones, in addition to a web version to watch the collection on the computer. It is not yet known whether there are applications for media centers and TVs, such as Apple TV and Android TV, or compatibility of the apps with streaming devices such as Chromecast and Amazon Fire Stick.
The Peacock is expected to debut with a reasonable volume of content compared to rivals in the same segment. The 15 thousand hours of programming promised in the premium version surpass the 10 thousand hours of HBO Max, a service that has not yet premiered in Brazil and which includes the collections of HBO Go with that of other WarnerMedia channels, such as Cartoon Network and TNT. The offer is also bigger than the library of Apple services and that of Disney, which opened in November 2019 with just 127 hours of content.
The price, on the other hand, is halfway between the main rivals. The premium mode without ads, which costs US $ 10 (about R $ 42), more expensive than Apple TV + (US $ 5) and Disney +, but cheaper than HBO Max and Netflix in the United States. Considering the conversion to reais, the monthly fee is higher than that charged by Netflix (from R $ 21.90) and Amazon Prime Video (included in Amazon Prime for R $ 9.90) in Brazil.
