The Mi Mix 3 5G finally received the January security patch. It was Xiaomi's first smartphone compatible with the fifth generation mobile network, but it seems that the Chinese manufacturer "forgot" to update it, given that it had not received an update seven months ago, being in the May 2019 patch.
This update, which brings the compilation "PKQ1.190321.001" and weighs 759MB, still does not deliver MIUI 11 based on Android 10, being restricted to MIUI 10.3.23 with Android Pie. Interestingly, the 4G version received the new interface from Xiaomi in December last year, while the Mi Mix 2s was updated this month.
In addition to the most recent security patches, no new features have been added to the system. As expected, the January patch started to be released gradually via OTA to the owners of the Mi Mix 3 5G, and it may take a few days (or weeks) to reach everyone.
Before carrying out the installation, check the amount of battery available to avoid disconnections during the process, we recommend at least 50%. Although it is not a major update, we advise you to perform a backup of your data.
If the update does not arrive via a notification, simply access the settings to find it manually.
