Lenovo has been standing out with its varied line of notebooks, with configurations that value high performance to meet the greatest number of possible needs. O Ideapad S145 one such case, which features hardware powerful enough for productivity and entertainment.2
O Showmetech had the opportunity to test this device that offers a satisfactory experience, thanks to the balance in its configurations. The complete analysis you can see below.
The notebook Ideapad S145 it has a modest and beautiful design at the same time. Silver in color, it weighs approximately 1.85 kg and has matte details on the top. When you open it, the 15.6 inches proved to be a positive point for viewing content thanks to the size and built-in anti-reflection. Despite being a little big, the computer is relatively light and easy to handle.
In addition to the traditional keyboard, the size of the notebook allowed the device to also come with the numeric keypad, even squeezed in the corner. The standard touchpad is just below the space bar if the user does not want, or does not have, an alternative mouse.
During the weeks of use, I performed well with it, the keys are comfortable and the typing is smooth. Unfortunately, the keyboard does not come with backlight, but it is not a negative point if we consider that it is a basic model.
On the left side is the charger input, one HDMI and three USB inputs two in standard 3.1 and one 2.0. I missed an entry for network cable, in case the user wants to use it for better internet performance. Perhaps it was discarded because the notebook is already equipped with the Wi-Fi AC. This pattern is capable of receiving up to 1.3 Tera Bytes of data, almost three times the speed of the currently unused pattern.
The right side has an SSD or HDD memory card slot. This extra space can be used if the 512GB SSD are not enough. There is also a headphone jack. Below are the air intakes and two loudspeakers on the slope of the front, so that the sound is not muffled on the table.
The screen Ideapad S145 supports resolution Full HD (1920 × 1080), with sharp and intense colors, ideal for watching movies and series. The size also pleases, as the 15.6 inches are great for that movie session or playing your favorite games. The edges of the screen are thinner, which also helps in using the monitor as a whole.
Another advantage is that the screen is equipped with an anti-reflective layer, which helps in viewing in bright places. The device can be opened up to 180, allowing the ideal angle adjustment to keep the posture straight during long hours of use. In both games and videos, the resolution proved to be sufficient to appreciate details hidden in programs with available Full HD image.
important to remember that the Ideapad S145 varies greatly from hardware. You can find models with less memory, a different processor, less space on the SSD and only with HD resolution. The model we tested the most complete, with processor Intel Core i7 8 generation and 1.80GHz of power. It may not seem like much, but combined with the 8GB of RAM memory and the 512GB of SSD storage, we have a notebook of impressive speed.
The operating system Windows 10 and the video card one NVIDIA GeForce MX110 with 2GB, which has enough power to play games with graphics not too heavy, but there are exceptions. In some cases, the graphics in minimal quality are not so ugly and you can have fun without worries.
With Bluetooth 4.2, 0.3 MP camera and built-in microphone, the battery, which lasted just over two hours, left something to be desired in this model. So, no marathon series with the notebook unplugged.
The biggest highlight of the Ideapad S145 gives Lenovo the velocity. When I turned it on for the first time, after making the initial settings, in less than 15 seconds I was already opening files and browsing the internet. Everything is dynamic and works smoothly, as the SSD does not allow crashes or delay loading.
I took the opportunity to test some games and the result was also satisfactory. Today's famous e-Sports as League of Legends, Fortnite and CS-Go they ran smoothly, without falling frames or slow loading. The only thing, however, is that the image settings should be at medium quality.
I took a little more risk and tested some AAA games, with the latest generation graphics. First with Killer Instinct, launched in 2013 to Xbox one and PRAÇA, which had its best performance with low graphic quality. In this case specifically, the game did not look bad visually, but it is clear that a more powerful video card could improve performance.
J with Gears 5 the result was not one of the best. Even with the game running smoothly, the graphic loss is considerable and this can hinder the experience with the game. The ideal is that you analyze the minimum settings of a title before buying, so that you don't get frustrated later. Although the device has limited gaming capacity, there are several titles in particular for online play that can be used in Ideapad.
Watching movies and TV shows is another enjoyable activity on this Lenovo. Full HD resolution, combined with high performance and a 15.6-inch screen, are a real invitation to marathon your favorite series. The obstacle here is the battery, which has only two hours of autonomy.
In the sound question the Ideapad S145 it doesn't surprise. With just 1.5W of power, the speakers are easily overshadowed by outside noise. It can be improved if you have more powerful headphones, but the speakers alone need a lot of silence if you like to listen to loud music or watch movies.
At home I use the Lenovo model Ideapad 320 with the same power in the speakers, but the difference in sound range is clear.
The battery life, as I mentioned earlier, is not very expressive. With two cells of 35Wh, I even managed to use it for a long time out of the socket if the use is not continuous. It is possible to optimize this time by configuring the brightness and battery settings, but if used constantly it lasts just over two hours.
This time is in the average duration, not too much or too little, and the recharge time is also long. Another feature that I noticed is that the charger heats up a lot in the socket, but nothing that impairs the use.
O Ideapad S145 gives Lenovo a very complete device, it can be used for both work and entertainment. Despite the limitations on the video and audio card, the fact remains that the notebook can meet the basic needs of high-performance users. Remembering that if these configurations do not please you, the company offers several variations of the same model for you to choose.
If you are looking for a practical and fast computer for work, this could be a great alternative, thanks to the processor combination Intel Core i7 8 generation, 8GB RAM, SSD and dedicated video card.
This model of Lenovo may not be the best choice for those looking for something more robust, geared to games with latest generation graphics or video editing in 4K, since the screen itself does not allow this resolution. Its variety of configuration and price can perfectly fit the needs of users, just be sure to check the official website of Lenovo to choose the Ideapad S145 ideal for you.
