As we have always said, the best way to take advantage of everything Uptodown offers by installing our official app, through which it is possible to automate the download of updates or rollback for a previous version, among other features. With the release of the new version 3.56, many changes arrive, as expected support for the distribution pattern of Android App Bundles, filter updates according to technical specifications, a new queue system for multiple downloads and the total elimination of advertising.
Split APK support
One of the main news of the update. Several months ago Google began to introduce so-called Android App Bundles, a new system of packages and distribution of apps that, among other things, reduces the size of downloads by offering the user the pieces of the app that are needed to run on their devices. Since the system Dynamic Delivery used by more and more developers, it needed to be supported by our app.
In the case of Uptodown, we opted for offer users the complete pack of each application, but our own app will be in charge of extracting the necessary parts from the batch to be able to install in our terminal. This means that after downloading the file (which will also have an XAPK extension as well as the packages already supported with additional OBB data), it can be used with any device regardless of architecture or screen resolution. No need to download again.
APK filter by device type
As everyone knows, at Uptodown we offer the download of previous versions of the same app. This sometimes causes certain problems, since with such freedom the user may end up downloading an application or beta version by mistake that is only compatible with certain architectures or models.
To solve this, we developed an automatic detection system of the device's SDK, so that when searching for automatic updates in Uptodown for installed apps, only those that are fully compatible with the terminal are downloaded. No more bullshit!
New download queue
More robust and reliable. If you start downloading multiple applications simultaneously, they will be in one pending list in Downloads section. In addition, if the connection is cut off by external factors, downloads will automatically resume when the service becomes available again.
Although the app itself no longer showed almost any integrated advertising, we decided to eliminate it completely so that the user experience is as satisfying as possible.
