In 2015, Apple started offering a new charging method for purchases made at iTunes Store and on App Store. With it, users can choose to be charged through their cell phone bills.
Since then, Ma has been working to expand the service even though we don't know what the company's criteria are for this expansion, the fact that several countries already have the solution. More recently, the resource has reached Portugal and six new territories. Just them:
- Portugal: Vodafone
- Cambodia: Smart Axiata
- Crocia: TO 1
- Luxembourg: POST Telecom
- Poland: PLAY
- Bahrain: Batelco, VIVA and Zain Bahrain
- Romania: Orange
In addition to the stores mentioned above, Apple Music and people who have an app subscription may also be charged on the monthly bill for their cell phone bill in the countries where the feature is available; likewise, prepaid customers may have the amount corresponding to these purchases / subscriptions deducted from the credit available on the line.
With the most recent expansion, the resource is already available to Ma customers in 32 countries and 50 operators, including giants from Japan (KDDI, SoftBank and NTT DoCoMo), from Hong Kong (SmarTone and 3HK), from France (Bouygues Telecom, Orange and SFR), the United Kingdom (EE and O2) and Spain (Orange and Pagos Online Movistar).
In Brazil (as well as in other countries in the Americas), the service is not yet available. To check all regions and carriers compatible with the option, simply access this Apple support page.
Update 12/10/2018 s 09:31
As pointed out by some of our readers, the operator Vodafone has supported the payment option for purchases from the iTunes Store and other Apple stores / services since the end of last year. This feature is therefore not new to Ma's customers in Portugal.
