How to re-download deleted apps, music, movies and books from iPhone or Mac

If you, like me, like to keep only the applications that are most used on the iPhone / iPad / Mac, then it is likely that you have already entered the dilemma of wanting to download an app that you tried but ended up discarding because it was not useful at that time.

Even if this is not the case, did you know you can access all purchases have you ever done on the App Store with your Apple ID on your iPhone / iPad or Mac? The option allows you to view apps, music, movies and books from the App Store, iTunes Store and iBooks Store from your download history.

it is possible to download again apps, songs, movies or books deleted by looking for media in their respective store and touching the cloud icon with down arrow; but what if you forgot the name of the app and just remember that it had a blue icon, for example? Or have you no idea which movie you bought and saw three years ago, but you want to see it again now? There is an answer to that!

Before you begin, know that if you have changed the country or region of your Apple ID, you may not be able to see * all * previous purchases as some apps, music, movies or books may be available in one region and not in another .

To download deleted content again, follow these steps:

Apps on iPhone, iPad or iPod touch

  1. Open the App Store and tap on the ?Today? tab at the bottom of the screen.
  2. Touch your user's icon in the upper right corner of the screen and then "Purchases".
  3. Select "My Purchases" and view the history of apps downloaded through the "Everything" or "Not on this iPhone" tab.
  4. Find the app you would like to download again and tap the download icon.

Downloading old apps from iPhone

If you are in a Family Share, you can view and download apps purchased by other members of your family as long as they have allowed this option in the iCloud settings.

Mac applications

  1. Open the Mac App Store and click on your user icon, at the bottom left of the screen enter your Apple ID password, if requested.
  2. Find the app you would like to download again and tap the download icon.

Apps on Apple TV

  1. On the Home Screen, select the App Store. Then, go to ?Shopping?.
  2. Find the app you would like to download again and tap the download icon.

The above tip works for owners of Apple TV of the fourth generation or later older models do not have an app store.

Music and movies on iPhone, iPad and iPod touch

Downloading a song purchased from the iTunes Store

  1. Open the iTunes Store app.
  2. On the iPhone or iPod touch, tap "More" at the bottom right of the screen and then "Purchased". On the iPad, just select the option ?Purchases?.
  3. Depending on the content you want to download again, select "Music" or "Movies".
  4. Find the content you would like to download again and tap on it. Then tap the download icon to the right of the title. You can find the movies again in the TV app and the music in the Music app.

Mac / PC music and movies

Downloading a song purchased from the iTunes Store

  1. Open iTunes and sign in with your Apple ID.
  2. On the Mac menu bar or at the top of the iTunes window, select "Account" and then "Purchased". If you use Family Sharing, click on ?Family Purchases?.
  3. Depending on the type of content you download again, click on "Music" or "Movies" in the upper right corner of the iTunes window.
  4. Find the content you would like to download again and tap on it. Then, tap the download icon in the upper right corner. The download of the song, movie or audiobook goes to the iTunes library.

On Apple TV, when listening to music or watching a movie, you do not download the item on it; purchased movies are available on the TV app and music on the Music app.

Books or audiobooks on iPhone, iPad or iPod touch

Downloading a book purchased from the iBooks Store

  1. Open the Books app and tap your user icon in the upper right corner of the screen.
  2. In the "My Purchases" section, select the content you want to download again under "Books" or "Audiobooks".
  3. Search the content between "All books / audiobooks" downloaded or "Recent purchases".
  4. Find the book or audiobook you want to download and tap the download icon.

Mac books or audiobooks

Downloading a book purchased from the iBooks Store

  1. Open the Books app (on macOS High Sierra or earlier: iBooks) and sign in with your Apple ID.
  2. In the upper left corner, click on ?Book Store?.
  3. In the ?Quick Links? section, click on ?Purchased?. Then, select the "Not in my library" tab to see the purchased content that is not on the computer.
  4. Finally, find the book you want to download again and click the download button when downloading, the content will go to the Books app library.

If you can't find apps or other content deleted from your device, check the following points:

  • Check if the purchase is not hidden; if so, it will not be possible to view it using the methods described above. Learn how to view hidden purchases here.
  • If the message ?This device is associated with another Apple ID. You cannot associate this device with another Apple ID for (number) days ?, you will need to wait for the number of days described to associate that device with your Apple ID and thus download the content.
  • If you are using your mobile internet to download content, remember that it is possible to download items up to 150MB. Otherwise, you will need to connect to a Wi-Fi network.
