Who visited my Instagram profile? Site promises to 'snitch' stalkers | Social networks

READ: Instagram shows how many people saw your profile

The tool connects to the social network and provides a list of people who have visited the account owner's profile in the past 24 hours. While finding out who's watching your online life is a tempting proposition, curiosity can pose security risks. That's because Stalkci is not a website recognized by Instagram and, therefore, there is no way to guarantee the user's privacy. In addition, the app can ban accounts that use extra tools to obtain this type of information.

To use the platform, I need to enter the Instagram username and password. After login, Stalkci analyzes your profile and informs people who have spied on your photos and videos. The site takes into account the accesses made in the last 24 hours and, in the tests carried out by TechTudo, provided a list of 30 users.

According to Stalkci, the length of the list is variable. In other words, the site can target a greater or lesser number of users if the account in question is less or more targeted by stalkers. Apparently, there is no criterion for the ordering of "drawn" profiles, and there is no way of knowing whether the person in first place, for example, is more obsessive than the person ranked in the last position.

It is important to note, however, that Instagram does not provide this type of information, that is, there is no way to certify the veracity of the data indicated in Stalkci. According to the terms of the social network, information from registered users can only be shared between Facebook companies and with advertisers, measurement partners, academic researchers and legal authorities, if necessary. This points to a problem: Stalkci is not authorized to read people's data.

In the Reddit forum there are reports of users who were surprised by posts made by Stalkci on their Instagram profiles. As the platform requires access to the social network to reveal the stalkers, it ends up obtaining a series of other permissions the moment the person logs in. Curious to discover snoopers, many unknowingly grant permission for Stalkci to publish content on their behalf. In such cases, I need to access Instagram settings and revoke access to third-party account applications.

In addition, the use of apps that reveal information such as who viewed your profile violates Instagram's terms of use and the user can be blocked in the app temporarily or even permanently.
