National Archives website finds information about your surname | Internet

The National Archives maintain some databases with information on the entry of immigrants into Brazil. The websites can help anyone who is looking for documents from their ancestors for recognition of foreign citizenship, in studies on genealogy or simply who are curious and want to discover the origin and history of their surname. Old files, which are typed, have been indexed using optical character recognition (OCR) technology.

In the following tutorial, check out how to use the SIAN (National Archives Information System), the Entry of Foreigners into Brazil database in the Port of Rio de Janeiro, the Public Archive of So Paulo and the website Movimentao de Portugueses no Brasil para Brasil search for documents and records of immigrants.
