Cadastro Positivo is an initiative that will create a database with the payment history of each consumer. It can be consulted on credit sites such as Serasa, it only points what was paid and sets a score according to the client's punctuality.

The Positive Registration Law, sanctioned in 2011, was modified by Complementary Law no. 166/19 in July this year. Before the change, banks and financial institutions could only update the payment history of the customers they authorized. With the change, consumers can be registered automatically, without prior authorization.

The Positive Registry was created in 2011, with the objective of generating a database containing information on good payers. This payment history generates a score on the Score, ranging from zero to one thousand. With this data, financial institutions can offer lower interest rates to consumers who pay their debts on time and provide more credit options for purchases.

The register contains all information related to the payment of debts, from consumption charges, such as energy and water, to installment accounts, such as loans, credits and financing. The registration is made from the CPF of each consumer and is automatically updated by the financial institutions with the payment history of the charges. In addition, the register considers whether the consumer makes payments on time and classifies him as a good payer or not.

Why was I automatically registered?

In June 2011, Law no. 12,414 / 2011 was sanctioned and gave rise to the Positive Registry. With this law, financial institutions began to record the consumption history of people they authorized. However, in July 2019, Complementary Law no. 166/19 came into force and started to authorize credit birs to register any CPF automatically, without the client's authorization being necessary.

Since then, more than 100 financial institutions and the five largest Brazilian banks have started to register the CPF of all people in the Cadastro Positivo. Management is made by four credit birs: Serasa, SPC Brasil, Quod and Boa Vista. Anyone who is automatically registered must be notified by them within 30 days via email, text message or correspondence, as required by law.

How to activate my registration?

To activate the registration, banks and financial institutions must send the data of each consumer to the credit birs. After that, the managers must communicate the customers to activate the registration on the website of one of them.

How do I check my Credit Score?

The consultation can be carried out on the websites of one of the four credit birs: Serasa, SPC Brasil, Quod and Boa Vista. For this, it is necessary to select the option "Score" and inform the CPF, full name, date of birth, telephone, e-mail and create a password for login.

After being notified, the consumer has up to 30 days to cancel the registration. To do this, simply log on to the site, go to an agency or call the central office of one of the credit branches. The cancellation at one of the managers also removes the customer data from the other three companies. After this period, the credit management companies will automatically send the payment history of the customers.

Tips to Increase the Score

In order to increase the score in the Score, the consumer must have a clear name, that is, they do not have any open accounts that have been protested. In addition, paying bills on time, including charges for energy, water, telephone, Internet, etc., also increases the consumer's rating.

The increase in the Score is immediate, as the buyer's payment history needs to be modified. To observe the change, the consumer must maintain good payment practices for a few months, until the score grows.
