Keyboard app doesn't work

Complaints about Gboard malfunctions began last Wednesday (11), when the app released an update for Android phones. The link between the update and the bug has not been confirmed, but the Play Store comments section records similar reports of failure, with the error message "Gboard stopped working" after the update was released.

The comments warn that the keyboard disappeared even when clicking on a text field to type, or shows the alert "Gboard crashes continuously", which locks the phone. The user is then unable to type anything into the device.

On Twitter, users report that they are unable to use the device using an alphanumeric password because the keyboard does not appear to unlock the phone, disappearing from the lock screen.

Others complain that it is not possible to download an alternative keyboard app, as they cannot type in the Google Play Store search bar.

How to fix the cell phone keypad?

When the application stops working in cases like this, it is recommended to fix the phone's keyboard to download an alternative app until the bug is solved by the manufacturer. Among substitutes for Gboard is Microsoft's SwiftKey. Another solution is to download applications from the PC to use on Android, and thus avoid the keyboard bug.

It is possible to select another keyboard as the default on the cell phone. In the case of Samsung devices, for example, the device provides a native keyboard, which is activated from the system settings.
