This week Xiaomi introduced a new smart air conditioner that consumes up to 20% less energy than competing models, the Xiaomi Smartmi Air Conditioner A. It comes in two variants with different charging capacities and both surpass the current energy efficiency standards of industry.
Device promises to consume up to 70% less than the competition
According to the Chinese company, the Xiaomi Smartmi Air Conditioner A has versions with 1 and 1.5 tons of capacity. The main highlight is its energy efficiency. The new air conditioner comes with an APF (annual performance factor) of 4.65, which is better than the current Chinese standard value of 4.5. Basically, the higher the APF value, the greater the energy efficiency of the air conditioner.
For those unaware, the Chinese government passed a law on July 1, 2019 that has since been considered the most stringent energy efficiency standard for air conditioners. It is officially being implemented now and exceeds similar laws that are found in the United States.
In real use scenarios, Xiaomi's new air conditioner saves about 20% energy compared to other devices with class 3 efficiency ratings and lower APF value.
In addition, the Chinese company's new product is also a smart product. It supports voice commands via Xiao AI to control the temperature or to turn the device on / off.
The Xiaomi Smartmi Air Conditioner A is available in China for 2,299 yuan (about US $ 335) for the 1 ton capacity model and for 2,699 yuan (US $ 391) for the 1.5 ton capacity model.
