YoWhatsApp is a messenger that uses, without permission, the original WhatsApp source code. The "clone" only works on phones with Android system and, in addition to offering the functions of true service, brings more options such as sending PDF files, password lock and header customization with the platform color change. Differentials can be attractive to users who are unaware of the potential problems and risks that this type of platform may offer.
Illegal use of the tool development base of Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg prevents the platform's presence in supporting Google's system applications. To better understand why choosing to download Yo WhatsApp may lead to banning the user number in the original WhatsApp, see the list below prepared by TechTudo.

YoWhatsApp is a MOD, a modified version of the original software that requires the use of an unofficial APK to work. The system is compatible with Android 4.0 or higher phones only, ie Apple iPhone (iOS) devices are excluded. It is noteworthy that the requirements of the platform to use prevent its hosting in the official app store Google Play.
Since Yo WhatsApp needs an unofficial device to run the platform, before downloading, the user needs to modify the original factory composition of the phone. Under "Settings", the "Install unknown apps" option needs to be enabled, as all smartphones with the Google system come with this feature disabled by default as a security measure. Arbitrary release, at the discretion of the owner, exposes the software to the risk of malicious program intrusion.
The operation of Yo WhatsApp is very similar to that of WhatsApp. When the messenger is downloaded to the phone, it immediately accesses the contact list of the device and thus makes it possible to exchange messages even with those who use only the original support. Instant integration can influence users' sense of credibility, however, the supposed advantageous option poses risks to information disposed on the mobile phone.
In addition to all the functions that WhatsApp rene, the "clone" program offers other options, such as sending and files with more than 700 MB the standard platform has a limit of 100 MB; different text fonts the official messenger provides some limited formatting features; and header customization, which can have its colors changed by default, the entire platform of the green instant messaging system. Zuckerberg's official tool does not provide color change, but interested parties can change their profile description, chat background image and profile photo.
Other apparent advantages that the alternative system can offer are:
- Selection of which contacts in the list can call or not to their number;
- Upload files in all formats, including ZIP or PDF;
- Use of emojis available only for phones running Android 8 or higher;
- Bypass the message deletion system, which appears to Yo WhatsApp users even when sender deletes;
- Password option to access the messenger, either by numbers, letters or even fingerprint depending on the mobile phone model.

Anyone who chooses to use Yo WhatsApp needs to be aware that their account may be permanently banned from WhatsApp, as using modified and unlicensed applications violates the terms of service of the original application. To learn more about the guidelines adopted by the official messenger, interested parties can access the platform's web page (https://www.whatsapp.com/legal/#key-updates).
Precisely because it is an unofficial APK, Yo WhatsApp is not available on the official Google Play app store because the operating system developer vetoes any program that uses source code without proper authorization. To download the "copy", the user must resort to third party websites, which may hide malicious links and spread viruses or malware. These are capable of breaking into the mobile phone and stealing personal and bank details.
Another risk is linked to the unknown origin of Yo WhatsApp, which makes it impossible to determine if user and contact information is really protected. By breaking the WhatsApp source code, the alternative option developer can manipulate the system in different ways, such as eliminating end-to-end encryption of exchanged messages and gaining access to sensitive information. Unlike the original software, this version is not able to guarantee the preservation of the shared content.
What is the difference between Yo WhatsApp and GB WhatsApp?
GB WhatsApp is also a modified application of unknown origin. Photo: Reproduction
GB WhatsApp is another modified application that, like Yo WhatsApp, also illegally uses the WhatsApp source code to work and offers different functions such as uploading audio files up to 100 MB. As the origin of both undetectable, it is not known if the developer is the same for both clone systems. Some functions promised in the GB version, such as registering more than one phone number and increasing from 139 to 250 characters in the Status section, are not offered in Yo support.
GB WhatsApp is hosted on an Arab site and, because it has the same access requirements, the service cannot be found at the official Android app store either. This means that users may also have their privacy breached, in addition to the other security related risks related to Yo WhatsApp.
