New CUPS version allows 3D printing
A new version of the CUPS print server is available with security enhancements and new functionality that gives native support for 3D printers.
Common Unix Printing System, or simply CUPS, an open source print server that is currently maintained by Apple and just released a new version of Apple that makes it compatible with new 3D printers and fixes a number of bugs.
Although 3D printing is not yet popular in people's homes, this should change over time and CUPS is ready for it, this new version benefits any operating system that uses the feature, all of which comes with version 2.1. 0 from the print server.

Ubuntu 15.10 Willy Werewolf, which comes out now in October, comes with this release, if you want to manually download and install it on your system visit the CUPS website.
