My story in Linux

I would like to thank our readers for their participation and their willingness to share their story that may inspire more people to at least experience the open side of technology. It is noteworthy that as always, the opinions of the text below do not necessarily represent the opinion of the blog Diolinux on any subject covered, if you also have a cool story to tell and want to see it published here, send us an email with your text. Let's get to know Daniel Valado's story now.

Today I want to tell you a little about my story and experience in the penguin world.

I was introduced to Linux in 2002; That's when I bought my first computer. My Windows XP got a virus called BLASTER, which affected the computer's sound system and I needed my friend, who was already studying computer assembly and maintenance, to help me format my PC. At the time he gave me a copy of Kurumin, informing me that it was 'a Linux', which was excellent, better than XP; I even found it, but I couldn't install it on HD, even because I didn't even know how to format it right, just used it on liveCD.

I found it very annoying that I was unable to format and install Kurumin permanently with Gparted and ended up throwing the CD away, I continued on Windows XP. In 2007 when I took a course in assembly and maintenance and networking, the teacher introduced me to Ubuntu, that's when I fell in love with the penguin system.

This teacher taught how to format and install Ubuntu on HD, gave me a copy of the installation CD of version 7.04 with Gnome 2 at the time, when I got home I installed and tested, I really liked the system, more than XP and than Vista.

Since then I've tested Familix, Debian, Fedora, OpenSUSE, Mandriva, elementary OS, Linux Mint, etc. on my computer.

But, the distros that I fell in love with and still fall in love with are Ubuntu and Fedora, I use and recommend. Although I enjoy using it, I still can't get rid of Windows completely due to the need to use some applications that only run on Windows, like Adobe Photoshop and Corel Draw, so I use dual boot with Linux and Windows.
