How to use iPhone shortcuts to do everything on Instagram | Social networks

Browsing Instagram can be easier and faster with the Shortcuts app. Available for iPhones (iOS) with operating system version 12 or higher, the app lets you create short commands to streamline activities such as opening Safari or accessing the camera phone.

Shortcuts also provides quick useful actions for Instagram, such as creating memes, downloading Stories, or creating montages without much work on the part of the user. You can create a custom shortcut and access it from the Today widget, from search, or simply by asking for Siri. Check out the following list which commands to set up on your iPhone to make your life easier on Instagram.

1. Download photos, videos, Instagram stories

Download and install Instasave on your iPhone and create a shortcut to the app. In Instagram, choose the photo or video you want to save, and then tap the three-point menu to select Share and Shortcuts. Press the InstaSave option and after a few seconds the photo or video will be saved in Photos.

InstaSave also allows you to save Stories, Highlights, profile photo, 12 latest photos and videos, or the entire feed of some user. To do this, go to some post and tap on the three point menu to access the option "Copy profile URL". Then go to Shortcuts, tap Instasave and select what you want to save in the profile.

2. Grid photos and multiple image posts

Open the "Split Image Equally" shortcut and select the photo from your library. Choose how you want to go: first enter the number of horizontal segments and then the vertical ones. A three-by-three grid, for example, splits a square photo into nine different cutouts. For carousel posts, simply select all images at once in the correct order.

3. Create a photo collage

The Instagram Grid shortcut is available from the Shortcuts "Gallery" search and lets you create a photo collage. Select all the photos you want in your collage and tap "Done". The order in which you select your photos as they will appear in the montage.

4. Automatically upload your most recent photo

Go to the "Siri and Search" settings and select "Add Siri" to create a voice command to perform the Instagram posting action. Tap the red record button to record your voice command, and press "Done".

You can now use Siri to help you publish the latest photo from your Photo library. The shortcut does not apply to videos and, when enabled, asks if posting to "Story" or "Feed". Finally, complete the posting process manually.

5. Automatically upload your latest Live Photo

You can execute the shortcut "Post Live Photo for Instagram" by voice command with Siri to publish the latest Live Photo from the gallery on Instagram. The walkthrough is exactly the same as the previous list item.

6. Place text above photos to create memes

The "Text above image" shortcut lets you insert words above a photo to create a meme without resorting to image editors. Tap the shortcut and choose a photo. Then type your text, which may include emoticons, and press "OK". Your meme is ready.

7. Steal popular hashtags

Instagram Hashtags lets you steal the hashtags of a popular image to get closer to social media influencers and famous brands. After installing Instagram Hashtags, go to Instagram and find the image with the hashtags you want to steal. In the three-point menu at the top right, touch "Share to" and select "Shortcuts."

8. Add thumbnail map to a photo

Tap the shortcut "PhotoMap Thumbnail" (map thumbnail) in Shortcuts and choose a photo from your library. The shortcut prompts you to customize the map thumbnail for the photo. Select a header and footer (choose from date, time, location, and custom text), map size, and location.
