Five interesting and little known features of TomTom GO Brazil | Maps and location

TomTom GO Brazil is a navigation application that helps drivers while driving. Although less well known than competitors Google Maps and Waze, the app can draw attention for its interesting features, including the ability to run offline across the country.

However, this is not the only feature that presents itself as a service differential, available for Android phones. In the following lines, the TechTudo rene five features of TomTom GO Brazil that are both useful and little known.

One of the great advantages of TomTom GO Brazil is that the app not only indicates the position of the electronic radar: it also shows the speed limit of each sparrow. Rival Google Maps s has this feature in the United States, United Kingdom, and Denmark.

When you define a route in the app, you will see the location of all cameras on the path. Just tap on the radar button to see the speed limit, which is indicated inside the traffic sign symbol (in the example of the image below, 60 km / h).

The app shows which streets are congested even without placing any path in the app. This feature already makes life easier, as it allows the driver to choose an "escape route" before leaving home. The function can also be taken advantage of by those who are standing and want to get rid of the commotion of traffic, even if they are not standing in one place.

But this feature is present in competitors. A TomTom GO differential is that it specifies the length of the traffic queues and how long the average driver will take in each one. The best information is right on the platform home screen. To access it, simply open the app and tap one of the queues. If there is no way out of the traffic jam, at least you can easily see which way is the least congested.

Simply defining a route is enough for TomTom Go Brasil to report useful stops in the surrounding area. The app shows the location of gas stations, parking lots, traffic lights, radars and other establishments that serve those who are driving everything through easily identifiable icons. The function is particularly interesting for those who are traveling or using an unfamiliar route, as it allows the driver to program himself for a stop, for example.

4. Selection of route preference

Anyone who uses Google Maps simultaneously with Waze knows that apps often show different routes for the same trip. This is because each of them prioritizes a certain type of route, be it the shortest or the most congested.

TomTom gives the user freedom to choose which type of route to take. For this, I need to enter the menu, access the gear button (settings) and select "Plan routes". In this section, you can choose between the shortest, fastest, winding, environmentally friendly route, avoiding highways, among other options.

5. Background Execution

Another interesting feature is the ability to rotate in the background, a function also accessible in the settings. When it is enabled, the app will continue to give you voice path instructions even if it isn't appearing on your phone screen. Thus, the driver can open WhatsApp without the risk of losing any orientation, for example.
