Remember that WhatsApp became the world's most popular messenger by overcoming the platform launched by Mark Zuckerberg in 2018, according to a report published in early 2019 by digital market analysis company App Annie. The third position in the download ranking was occupied by TikTok, which has already hit 1 billion installations and added 188 million users in the last three months. The placement concerns general installations and the Play Store, as the result is a different Apple store, where the music dubbing platform was the leader for the fifth consecutive quarter.
Note that Zuckerberg scored four of the five most downloaded apps between January 1 and March 31 in the overall standings. WhatsApp, Messenger, Facebook and Instagram all of the company remained at the same positions compared to the last quarter of 2018 in both stores. Performance rating on number of installs does not include game apps, organized separately.
Total installations in the first three months of 2019 reached 28.1 billion. Google Play accounted for 20.7 billion of that amount, and had an 18.8% increase in downloads. Already the App Store contributed 7.4 billion installations, but fell by 4.7% over the previous quarter. The overall revenue from these apps was $ 19.5 billion (about $ 77.4 billion, in direct conversion). Check out the full list of the most downloaded apps in 2019 so far:
