Three Ways To Hide Photos And Videos In Android Phone Gallery | Utilities

You can hide photos and videos from the Android phone gallery to enhance the security of the content. To do this, the user can use three different procedures: the Safe Folder function, native to Samsung devices; a file manager such as OI File Manager; or a dedicated protection app, such as KeepSafe. This way, interested parties can avoid privacy issues with sensitive items such as intimate photos.

For the Secure Folder feature, people can access it on Google-based smartphones from Android 7.0 (Nougat). Check out the following tutorial prepared by TechTudo, three ways to hide sensitive media from the mobile gallery. Remember that the procedures are not compatible with Apple's iPhone (iOS).

Step 1. Open the mobile application area and go to "Settings". Then select "Biometrics and Security";

Step 2. Tap on the "Secure Folder" option and log in to your Samsung account;

Step 3. In Secure Folder settings, enable the "Display Safe Folder" key for easy navigation. Enter "Lock type" and choose one of the protection ways in this tutorial, we chose the option "Password";

Step 4. Create your password and confirm it (for security, Samsung prevents these screens from being captured). Open the handset apps section again and see the addition of Safe Folder among the features. Tap it and type the password you created;

Step 5. Go to "Add Files" and select the type of file you want to protect in Safe Folder;

Step 6. Select all the items you want to place in Safe Folder and tap "Done". The first time you do this, the app will ask you if you want to move the file or copy it to the Safe Folder. Choose one of the alternatives in this example, we choose "Copy";

Step 7. Perform the procedure until you have hidden all the desired items from the Samsung gallery. To view protected contents, enter the Secure Folder, enter the password, and select the type of locked file you want to access. In this tutorial, we chose the "Gallery" option, where are the hidden images from the mobile gallery.

Using file manager

Step 1. A mode to hide photos from android gallery by file manager. In this example, we chose OI File Manager, which is free, but you can use the application of your choice. When you open the service for the first time, you must accept the terms of use and grant access to phone storage;

Step 2. In the main screen of the app, go to the three dots menu and select "Create folder";

Step 3. Give a name starting with a period (.), Such as ".SecretFolder", and tap "OK". This directory will appear in the manager, but not in the Android gallery, as the system does not display folders starting with the dot sign;

Step 4. Go to the folder where the files you want to hide are. Press one file and then touch the others to select them. Go to the "Cut" button and verify that at the bottom of the screen the message "X items to move" was displayed, indicating that the files will be moved from directory;

Step 5. Go back to the folder with the dot (.Secret Folder), tap the three dots menu and select "Paste". The files will be moved to this folder, which is not displayed in the Android gallery.

With app to hide files

Step 1. Another way to hide photos and videos from the Android gallery for a dedicated function, like the free KeepSafe. After installing the app, tap "Allow access" on the home screen and confirm the permission for the platform to access mobile storage. Then go to "New? Register here" to create a service account;

Step 2. In the privacy policy and terms of use message box, tap "Continue" to accept and use KeepSafe. Then enter your name and email and tap "Finish" to proceed;

Step 3. Enter the folder containing the photos and videos you want to hide. Select the items that will be hidden and see the "Import" button;

Step 4. Create a four-digit PIN and then confirm the code. The images will already be in a private album, password protected.
