Instagram lets you watch lives on Stories. To differentiate from other stories, the icon is displayed with a colored ring labeled "live". Broadcasters can interact by sending text comments or emojis and likes in heart format.
Once finalized, the live recorded video can be shared as a story and remain available for up to 24 hours. The ideal function for those who could not follow the live live. The procedure was performed on an iPhone 8 with iOS 12, but the tips also apply to users of Android devices.

Step 1. Open Instagram and in the stories section, note the "live" indication below the profile icon. Tap on it to see the live. The interaction options are all at the bottom of the screen. You can request to join the live, send comments and likes (hearts);

Step 2. If the live has already ended, you will see a play icon below the profile photo. Tap to open the video that was recorded live. At the top of the screen you can know when the live occurred. In this case, you can only send messages via Direct, in the field below;

Step 3. To see the live of someone you don't follow, go to the Instagram search and find the person. Now just tap on the profile picture to watch. Note that if the account is private, you will need to submit a follow-up request that must be accepted by the profile owner.
