LXQt, a lightweight and functional environment for Linux

This is the expected combination of two very good projects with the same ideal, RazorQt and LXDE, both are minimalist environments for computers with more modest hardware and as it seems that "everything" is moving towards QT we have another interface based on these libraries.

The new environment is already available for those who want to test, more suitable to install it on Lubuntu because apparently the environments are more convergent somehow, it is not necessary to download so many files, however, it is possible to install on conventional Ubuntu as well.

Graphical interface change although it is easy to do an advanced task so if you are not prepared to have to tidy up your system if you encounter any problems, do not.

Installing LXQT on (L) Ubuntu 14.10 and 14.04

Open the terminal and paste the following commands:

sudo add-apt-repository ppa: lubuntu-dev / lubuntu-daily

sudo apt-get update

sudo apt-get upgrade

sudo apt-get install lxqt-metapackage lxqt-session lxsession

Once installed go to the system login screen and switch to LXQt, now you can enjoy the interface if something goes wrong or you don't even like to uninstall the login environment again in the old interface and give the following commands:

sudo apt-get remove lxqt-metapackage lxqt-session lxsession

sudo apt-get autoremove

If you want to install LXQt on another non-Ubuntu based distribution check the links on the project page, this graphical environment should come as standard in future versions of Lubuntu, currently it is version 0.8 and has full compatibility with QT5, the same one used to make KDE 5. See you next time!
