A few weeks ago, we reported that the WhatsApp Messenger It now has an extra layer of security and it is possible to enable Touch ID or Face ID protection to gain access to the messenger. Today, however, a flaw has been discovered that circumvents this layer of security.
The problem was shared by the user. u / de_X_ter Reddit and works as long as any option other than ?Immediately? is selected in the new WhatsApp security deny (Settings Account Privacy Lock Screen).
- Open the sharing sheet in any iOS app (in Photos, for example).
- Tap the WhatsApp icon.
- During the transition to the next screen, no Touch / Face ID check will occur if an option other than ?Immediately? is set; Now, just exit to iOS Home Screen in some cases, if prompted for Touch / Face ID verification, just cancel and try to touch WhatsApp icon on share sheet again.
- Try opening WhatsApp and you're done! It simply allows you to sign in to WhatsApp without checking your fingerprint or face.
Again, the problem only happens if you have set the Touch / Face ID after 1 minute, 15 minutes or 1 hour. Then you can easily protect yourself by choosing the "Immediately" option.
According to the Reuters, Facebook already knows the problem and is working on a fix.
