These are my Android settings and applications I use often

Home screen

I think we can talk a lot about a person by seeing how apps and widgets are arranged on their smartphone. Therefore, I am very careful about the appearance of the home screen of my Xperia Z2. One of the first settings I have on my Android is not to add new home screen apps, because as I download a lot of apps for testing, it would ruin my life.

Although organized, I'm not so medical as to properly tag all my folders

For me, the home screen the living room of my cell phone means that it has to be always tidy and organized. The rest of my cell phone is my room anyway, only I see the mess and it's ok. For this reason, I will share here just what I have on my home screen, some apps I've been using more in the last few weeks, and some relevant settings.

Since I dread the notification icons on the status bar, I keep as few as possible and will never go beyond six with the clock and battery percentage. Below, I always keep the Google search bar, and when I need to search for something that requires a search sentence, I almost always use a voice command.

Below that, I have a pretty basic widget from Sony's ex-Walkman Music app. However, most of the time I even use Spotify Premium. On the dock above the navigation bar is the Chrome browser, Play Store, app drawer, messaging, and phone dialer by default. The latter are much more for convenience than real necessity.

Then two other apps that have direct access on the home screen are Offi Directions, which shows me the Berlin transport connections and the camera. Yes, although Xperia Z2 has a quick shortcut to the camera on the right side, most of the time I use the onscreen icon to launch the app.

One thing I have to say is that I use a slew of Google apps, however, only the most used ones are in a specific folder on the home screen. Notable for YouTube, Drive, Keep, Maps, Gmail, and Calendar.

Although organized, I'm not so medical as to properly tag all my folders, so except for all folders named "Things", just not to have the default "Folder" system name popping up. Typically, the selection of apps in these folders are related by color, category or similarity.

Among the applications I use the most are Yahoo's weather, which I find very well designed and that has a clean interface and very easy to use. As I use the original Sony UI, I choose to use Muzei as a wallpaper. In addition to having a different background every day, I get to know a lot of artists every year.

Lately, I've been using the free version of the MyFitnessPal calorie counter and the paid version of the Daily Yoga. At first, I started using it to test the efficiency of both applications, but I really enjoyed both. Both have a very user-friendly and well-developed interface, and even though I haven't yet reviewed the apps, I recommend both if you're looking to take better care of your nutrition and physical and mental health.

Last but not least, as my smartphone already has some road time and I use it with the manufacturer's ROM, I choose to speed up the animations to get more time in life. So, using the developer's options, I use the 0.5x animation scale for the window and transition animation size as well as the Animator duration scale.

If you want to test the difference but don't know what you're talking about here, I suggest putting it on the slower scale offered by the option and then choosing the least animation scale if you wish.

In addition, I always keep USB debugging on, because even though I recognize the risks of this setting, I actually install a number of APKs for testing and get very annoyed when the system asks to turn on debugging. So I keep on all the time.
