After the call function, the video call is the feature most awaited by WhatsApp users, and promises to leave the operators of the hair country standing. If you don't want to wait for this feature to come through the official app, keep reading this article and learn how to get the video call feature first using WhatsApp contacts.
Prior to WhatsApp, the Booyah app is responsible for bringing video conferencing into the world's most popular messenger. With the help of this app, video calls can be made between contacts available on WhatsApp.
To use the individual or group videoconferencing feature I need the desired contacts to have Booyah installed on their respective handsets. What's interesting about this app is that only WhatsApp contacts can join and accept video call invitations, which sets Booyah apart from other Android video conferencing apps.
It is not possible to invite a contact directly from the calendar, for example, since Booyah does not work other than in conjunction with WhatsApp. Check below an image of the service in use:
During our tests we noticed that Booyah did better on two-person calls, while group calls got audio compromised at certain times. In both situations the image quality was average on the Skype standard, for example, considering that our chat participants are in different countries.
Another point that deserves to be highlighted is the way calls are made. Instead of the app issuing a conventional call call, Booyah sends participating users a link to the chat they should enter.
Thus, the only notification that is sent to guest users is a message with the link to the video call. If you don't have Booyah, this message will be replaced with a link to download the app from Google Play.
Download Booyah for Android
Booyah is now available for Android, and can be downloaded from the Google Play Store via the button below:
The app was already available for iOS and has now reached Android. So I believe developers should fix audio issues and optimize the way Booyah invites users in future versions of the app. Meanwhile, those who do not want to wait for the official function are well served with Booyah.
What did you think of the app? Do you think you can wait for the official function or does Booyah live up to expectations?
