The world's most widely used browser, Chrome has tight integration with the equally popular desktop version. It synchronizes history, bookmarks, passwords and even card data between PC and mobile. In addition, the app features useful functions like website compressor to save data from 4G, page translator, voice search and dangerous website alert system.

On the other hand, Chrome is not ideal for those who value privacy: nor does incognito mode prevent your browsing from being tracked by the internet giant.

Safari is the ideal choice for Apple users only. The synchronization of information, for example, is almost immediate: just open a website on iPhone to see the browser icon jump on Mac and allow the same page access with one click. Integration with iOS also ensures compatibility with functions such as previewing links using 3D Touch. The app also has privacy features like cookie blocking and system that prevents data traffic from being crawled between one site and another.

One of its strengths, however, is also its weakness: Focusing on Apple users, the app can't be useful for those with a Windows computer. In such cases, cross-platform alternatives like Chrome or others you see below may be more convenient.

The main advantage of Microsoft Edge is working in conjunction with the native Windows 10 browser. Users can not only sync history and passwords between mobile and PC, but also send a link from one device to another with one touch: the app has a button featured on the home screen that immediately sends a website open on your smartphone to your computer, even if the desktop program is currently closed.

It also supports ad blockers and features a reading pane similar to Safari. However, support for a larger number of extensions is missing.

Samsung Internet comes installed on phones from the manufacturer and can be downloaded on any Android. The most useful features include extension support, which allows you to install plugins like AdBlock to remove online advertising, and Secret Mode, which creates a hidden layer of password-protected browsing. In the latest version, the app also has a Night Mode that turns the look black and helps to save battery power.

On the other hand, the browser suffers from a problem similar to Safari: as it only has mobile version, it is not possible to synchronize history and other data with the computer.

Firefox Focus is a browser for Android and iOS that uses the same Firefox page rendering engine, but specializes in privacy protection. By default, the browser does not load advertisements, crawlers, and other elements that compromise user data on visited websites. As a result, it opens up faster, saving you browsing time. The app even features a floating button that lets you remove the full story with one tap.

By contrast, enhancements developed by Mozilla engineers often reach the first regular version of the browser, leaving Focus in the background in adopting newer technologies.

6. DuckDuckGo Privacy Browser

Another privacy-focused browser, DuckDuckGo Privacy Browser has the added bonus of coming with the pre-configured DuckDuckGo search engine for searching the Internet. The service has a promise not to store data circulating on its servers, let alone use that information for profit.

This feature can have disadvantages as the application is bound to interfere with how the pages behave. On websites with embedded video, for example, the browser often rotates the content in a new tab to get rid of the built-in trackers that end up harming everyday usability.

Available only for Android, Opera is a browser with extras like ad blocker, data saver, night mode and even integrated VPN, as well as the desktop version. The app also has a cryptocurrency wallet, ideal for those who need to make quick currency transactions without having to access the PC.

In addition to not having an iPhone version, Opera has the disadvantage of a synchronization system that is not so efficient: even your account is logged in on mobile and desktop, data like history is not updated on all your devices as easily as Chrome or Safari. Remember that there is still the lighter version Opera Mini, focusing on mobile phones with slow and limited internet.
