# How to calculate age in Excel | Productivity

Excel offers features for making automatic age calculations, useful for those who need to find out how old people are from a large database. The account can be made considering the period between two dates here, we will use the date of the day the spreadsheet was made and the date of birth. Step 1. In the Excel spreadsheet, create a column programmed with the formula TODAY to automatically update the current date in future operations. To do this, select the cell and type the formula = TODAY (), displaying the date as soon as activated with the Enter key;

Step 2. Then replicate the programmed command to the other rows of this column. Click on the dot in the lower right corner of the cell with the formula TODAY and drag it down to the desired limit;

Step 3. To create the schedule that calculates dates, I need to specify three variables of the formula. DATAIF: the start date, current date, and calculation unit (which may be in full years, yfull months m, or days, d). In this case, the formula = DATADIF (B2; C2; y) was used, with B2 and C2 indicating the cells in the start and current date columns, respectively, while y specified the response in number of years;

Step 4. To reproduce the formula in the lines below, left-click on the dot in the lower right corner of the cell with the DATADIF formula and drag it to the desired line;

Step 5. It is possible to combine the response of the DATADIF formula with other variables, among them the other three more sophisticated: difference of days, ignoring years and months, md, difference of months, ignoring days and years, ym or difference in days, ignoring years yd. To do this, remember to enter & to specify response parameters and new formulas;
