How to add data to Excel from a photo | Productivity

Excel app for Android and iPhone (iOS) phones now lets you enter data from photos. The feature is useful for those who need to scan a table that is printed or in locked or protected documents. The app uses the phone's camera to capture the information and converts everything into an editable spreadsheet that can be saved to OneDrive and accessed by the computer.

In the following tutorial, check out how to add data in Excel from photos by phone. The procedure was performed on an iPhone 8 with iOS 12, but the tips also apply to users of Google-powered devices. Remember that you can only edit the spreadsheet captured by the phone in the desktop program.

Step 1. Open the Excel app and open an existing document or create a new workbook. With the spreadsheet open, tap the "…" button in the bottom right corner;

Step 2. Select "Insert" and tap "Image Data". If this is your first time using the feature, allow access to the camera's mobile app;

Step 3. Take a picture of the data and, if necessary, adjust the table image frame. Tap "Done" and wait for the photo to process. When done, tap "Insert";

Step 4. In some situations it may be necessary to analyze the data before inserting the table. To do this, tap "Analyze" and check if the text or number captured by Excel is correct.
