How to run encrypted blu-rays on VLC

Blu-ray on Ubuntu

If you went to watch a Blu-Ray on your VLC and couldn't because the disc was encrypted, this should help you, so we need to install some packages: sudo add-apt-repository ppa: n-muench / vlcsudo apt-get updatesudo apt-get install vlc libaacs0 libbluray-bdj libbluray1a

But it doesn't end there we have one more configuration to do:

You should now create an "AACS" in the hidden ".config" folder of your home directory and download the AACS l keys. To do this, run the following commands on a terminal:

mkdir -p ~ / .config / aacs /cd ~ / .config / aacs / && wget http://vlc-bluray.whoknowsmy.name/files/KEYDB.cfg Now to play Blu-rays using VLC, select the disc from the menu. Media> Open Disc

The above instructions should work for other Linux distributions as well, not just Ubuntu, since you have 2.0.x VLC installed along with libaacs0 and libbluray1.
