According to Google Trends, a tool that monitors people's internet searches, terms such as "faceapp something wrong" and "faceapp stopped working" peaked during Wednesday. Still according to the site, the phrase "faceapp crashing" had over 250% increase in user interest in the last hour.
In an email statement, FaceApp acknowledged the error and said: "We are doing our best to maintain our servers as quickly as possible. In the meantime, there may be problems like 'Api request error 6' or other loading issues." . The company also asks the user to verify that they are running the latest version of the software and try again in a few hours.
In addition, the app's usage policies mention that the user grants a "perpetual" and "irrevocable" license to reproduce any name and image provided "without any compensation to you". That is, the person cannot claim what they have already sent to the app. This is made possible because the program also reserves the right to take the images to servers outside the user's native country, where legislation permits such use.
